That's A Yes!
Validation. We all need it. Sometimes more than others. Sometimes we need it just to know we’re on the right path or making the right decision. And sometimes it’s just the icing on the cake; the exclamation point on what already feels like the right thing.
I’ve had a lot of those moments when it came to starting and running my brand Have Some Fun Today. Seeing my brand take hold in my hometown, watching the positive response to our brand message and of course, seeing pics of celebrities like Brooke Shields with the luxe tote, Reese Witherspoon in our muscle tank and Kate Hudson in the zip hoodie. Those are moments that have inspired me to keep going and to explore what else is out there!
Certainly, being featured on the cover of a magazine with my HSFT luxe tote is one of those moments. When Lehigh Valley Style approached me about a story, I was already flattered. Sure, it’s great for any brand to land a cover story, but honestly, I love telling the story of my father, his legacy and how I was inspired to start the company after his passing.
Those validation moments are important guides when we take any journey. I take them as signs to keep going and inspiration to do things my own way, even when it isn't what everyone else is doing.
I’ve always felt confident in my vision, even if it wasn’t the popular one. I can visualize where I’m going when I create and design. Not everyone is going to agree. And that’s ok. I feel like that was the gift of my art and being a painter. You have to trust the vision and the process. Your vision. It’s not supposed to look like anyone else’s.
It All Started With A Painting
It's been over four years since I started and I've now got a beautiful collection of those moments and stories as HSFT has grown. Even from the very beginning when I went back to my old stomping grounds in NYC to Parsons School of Design and begin designing our popular Luxe Tote. I learned so much through each of those experiences and those stories have become the fabric of the HSFT story.
Each time I become inspired to try something new or create another direction for HSFT, I take time to be reflective and really tune in to what it could be. It's less about a hot, new trend and more about the big picture of what I'm trying to create with HSFT. I'd rather create something classic and reflective of our brand than just a seasonal fad.
I've long been a big believer in meditation and I've openly shared in this blog my daily ritual of Rune Stones as a guide for my life. Those things help me tune in and connect energetically to my vision.
A Vision Turns Into A Brand
And when you get that validating moment, a pic of a celeb wearing HSFT, a note from a customer fighting cancer who connects to the message, that's when I know I'm right where I need to be.
I know I have a story to tell but to have the privilege of sharing it on a larger platform like a magazine, and for others to have a chance to share in it, that just feels good.
It’s in those moments when I realize I’ve created something real from the legacy of my father’s words. The vision I had for an HSFT painting that day sitting on my couch, took on a life of its own. And now my brand is sold all over the world. It’s humbling and it’s beautiful and I’m proud of what’s come from it.
I know my Dad is, too. He’s beaming from ear to ear up there with that unmistakable Joe Rado smile and reminding me to just revel in the accomplishments, stay on my track and always, "Have Some Fun Today".

Lotions, Serums and Creams, Oh My!
I’m slightly obsessed with beauty products. I’m a full-fledged, self-confessed beauty products junkie who is always on the hunt for a product that helps me look, feel, and even smell beautiful. And I love when I find just the right one.
There are so many products out there, from anti-aging to hydration. And we need different products for different stages in our lives and even different seasons. Our skin is our largest organ, so how you take care of it matters.
Damage to our skin can come from lots of different things. Aging skin loses elasticity. Sun damage, hormonal shifts, environmental toxins, even foods we eat can directly impact how our skin reacts.
What's in the Bag, Baby
As I gear up for some HSFT in the summer sun, beach days and pool lounging, (in between working relentlessly for my brand HSFT), I’m building up my arsenal of new summer beauty products.
We’re showing lots more skin in the summer months, for starters our HSFT high cut one-piece, so I start by finding products that help me protect my skin and give it that pretty summer glow.
This summer, my HSFT luxe tote becomes my beach bag and I’m filling it with my beauty “must-haves” for my beloved trips to the Jersey shore. Here’s a few of my new favs.
Summer Beauty Bag
- Firming botanical oil from African Botanicsis fabulous. It has a great fragrance and is just sheer heaven for exposed arms, decollate and legs. It’s a summer “staple” and really nourishes and tightens skin.
- I’m loving a new company from Malibu, CA called Kayo. Their Body Serum is made with hyaluronic acid and gives intense hydration. It’s so good it’s currently sold out online! Their Body Beautiful Cremè is made with an omega oil blend and it takes your skin care to the next level.
- I love a slight summer “sheen” to glowy and dewy summer skin. Sol de Janeiro makes a dry, non-stick glow oil with this beachy fresh smell. Brazilian beauty is on point and this body shimmer is everything. My fav is the Ipanema Sunset glow oil. It’s a limited edition, so get it before it’s gone.
- It’s true, I love a little summer sun-kissed skin but never without some legit sun protection. I’ve always got my HSFT trucker hat in my bag and a great sunscreen. The latest and greatest is this SPF 50 from Kate Somerville called “Uncomplicated”. I’m hooked. It’s a soft focus makeup setting spray with a whole lotta protection. So good, I bought two.
- Great skin calls for great hair and I LOVE the new brand called LOVE Hair. We all went through that phase with giant tub of kitchen-grade coconut oil mixed in with our beauty products. But this is “next level organic cold-pressed coconut oil. It’s made to condition hair that is stressed from styling and the elements, like summer sun and fun. Sure, Beach Hair Don’t Care, but keep it effortless and healthy. Bonus that you can use it on your skin and nails and it smells divine.
I hope your summer plans include lots of fun in the sun. Just make sure to drink lots of water, grab a great summer read and keep that glowing skin healthy and beautiful!
And always, HSFT!
HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - Style. The dictionary defines it as "a distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed."
How are you distinctive? Do you dress or pull together a look for yourself based on what looks good on you? Or is it more just what is comfortable? Or easy?
Your look style is your vibe. And it's distinctly you. There's not another one like you and so what you do with your exterior is the impression you put out into the world. Studies show that we make judgements and assessments of each other based on these impressions. Our clothes and our general appearance have a lot to do with that.
Too often, personal style becomes a thing of the past and for various reasons, we abandon having our own look or caring about our appearance. When our bodies change shape or when we change the course of our life, our clothes and our style changes, too. But many of us opt out of even trying to have style, overloaded by trends or a limited budget, we give up. We reach for cookie cutter or nondescript rather than inspiring and distinct.
Style is something unique to you. Only you can rock a look the way you can, because well, it's YOU! There's never going to be another one. So if you've lost your sense of style, find it. Or maybe it's time to change it.
Here's a few tips on how to keep it stylish...
1) Fit Is Everything
We're all too aware that we're not built the same and that's clear when we torture ourselves with a dressing room and an armful of clothes that are misshapen or make us cringe. Paying more money for something doesn't mean it's going to fit you. That said, if you're shopping the sale rack or for the bargains, make sure it's worth it, even at a cheaper price. The right fit might even mean going up in size but the number doesn't matter, how it looks on your body does. Your best friend in this effort should be a local tailor. Most local dry cleaners usually have one on staff. They can hem, nip and tuck until your clothes are made to fit you.
2) Know Your Body
It's not always the size that matters, it's knowing what looks good on you. Green is your color? V-neck is more flattering on you? You know when certain cuts or colors are better on your body or just not right. Your closet should be full of clothes and accessories you love to wear and that "wear you".
3) Mix and Match
People with flawless and impeccable style are people that know how to embrace a trend when it suits them and buck a trend if it's not for them. They combine a trend with a classic or a vintage piece with a modern look. Or maybe it's a shirt from Target with a designer wide-leg jean. Preppy and bohemian? Classic and retro fabulous? That's how you develop style.
4) Skip A Trend
Maybe the Pantone Color of the Year is just not your vibe, as in it washes you out and generally looks awful on you. Maybe the high waisted jean just looks silly on your petite frame. Or maybe the flatform sandal is just not a trend you're into. It's okay to say, "No thank you" to the hot new look because it's just not you.
5) Pull It Together
Regardless of what you wear, take a little time to care. Give yourself a few extra minutes to create a look, or press a shirt. Too often we opt for what's easy or most comfortable or maybe what seems safe. A few great accessories, and an effort at pulling together your style will show, no matter what your wearing.
6) Be You
If you don't know your "style" or what looks good on you, start from the beginning. Take a friend and hit that dreaded dressing room. Ask for honest opinions, like "Does this look good on me?" or "Can I pull this off?" And pick things that make you happy. That you'll want to wear or that seem like an expression of you. Creating your own style is about having the confidence to wear what you choose, because it's uniquely you.
7) Have Some Fun Today
Yes, we say it all day and everyday, but having style is about having FUN! When you step into your confidence and your best self, that is when the fun starts. That's the embodiment of Have Some Fun Today. When you decide to look through the rose colored glasses just a little longer and find the spark in the otherwise dreary day, that's FUN. Your clothes and accessories should be an expression of that, in the smallest or biggest of ways. Can't wear the faux hawk to work? Opt for a funky bag (Like our HSFT Luxe tote!) or cool lipstick? Work in your style anyway you can, because after all, it's YOU. The world only gets one....

Happiness. Choose it.
HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - It's pretty easy to open your beautiful eyes from a night's slumber and immediately think of 10 negative things in the world or your life that can suck the good vibe out of any mood. But here's the thing, its just as easy to flip that shit on it's side and find 10 things that are pretty amazing about your life. And yes, having your health and indoor plumbing can count as two of them.
But seriously, we are bombarded every single day by negativity and volatility. And the smart phones is just a constant gateway to more negative information and more accessibility. And if you don't learn to filter it out, it will crush your mojo.
At Have Some Fun Today, we believe in manifesting positivity and happiness every single day. We cultivate it. We meditate, exercise and focus on bringing positive things into our lives.
There's Some Science In Your Happiness
There are countless studies, research and articles about creating happiness in your life and they all hit on some common themes. Gratitude is a big one. Find things in your life that you're grateful for, even if they seem small and insignificant. When we shift our focus from what we don't have to what we have, something profound shifts in us.
The other common element for happy people? The word "savor" comes up a lot which is a beautiful way to say, soak up the good times. Relish in the small pleasures of everyday.... In other words, lovelies, Have Some Fun Today! This article in the Mayo Clinic talks about cultivating happiness by practicing "happy" and investing in positive relationships. Happy breeds happy, so surround yourself with it.
At HSFT, we couldn't be more clear that in order to live happy and be happy, you start with choosing happy. If we need to throw on our Original Crop Tank in to remind ourselves, then hell yeah, we're always down for that.
You Get What You Put Out There
Your mind is way more powerful than you realize. You actually create physical energetic matter when you have a thought. Daaa-uuuummm! That's some powerful stuff. Physicists call it a Quantum Event. And what we create and what we put out there attracts more of the same. Like attracts like.
"Every time you think a thought, you send out that thought's specific vibration. If a thought makes you feel good, if it's a "positive" thought, it is vibrating at a higher frequency. If a thought makes you feel bad, if it's a "negative" thought, it's vibrating at a lower frequency." -Melody Fletcher of Deliberate Receiving
Happiness really is a state of mind and there are plenty of ways to remind yourself of that. We highly suggest starting with a great outfit with an HSFT t-shirt or our luxe tote to keep you in the right frame of mind!

Hello, Hollywood.... We've Been Waiting For You
HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - We've been pretty stoked to see Have Some Fun Today showing up in our news feed on high-profile celebs like Olivia Wilde, Brooke Shields and last week, on Hilary Duff. But we can't say we're surprised. Three years ago, HSFT started out with the goal of sharing a mindset, a vibe, and a philosophy on how to live life. The chic tees, totes, hats and other accessories are just the vehicle to share the message.
The message may seem simple, but it's a call to action. Hey, you. Yeah, you. Pay attention and look for something in your day that's fun! Go out and find a little fun or find a lot of fun. Just find it! Look for it, cultivate it. But whatever you do, Have Some Fun today.
It Was Just A Mission Statement
And so, when you get HSFT, you get it. For some people, Have Some Fun Today is a mission statement to grab the day by the collar, dammit, and have some FUN. For others, it's a reminder to pay attention to the details and not take it all too seriously. What we love about this "brand with soul" is seeing it resonate with people in all different ways and how they share that with us.
Our owner and designer Stephanie Taormina gets countless emails, notes, texts and pics of people sharing their HSFT experience. We've heard from people struggling with health issues to people taking that "bucket-list" trip of a lifetime. We've heard from college kids and preschoolers, to moms to grandmas. Everyone has their own take on HSFT and that's the beauty of it.
Have Some Fun Today, Baby
Each note or card, email or text drives home the same point and something we know to be true. We're connected as much by what makes us different as what makes us the same. We're all movers and shakers, designers, artists, writers, thinkers, and glass ceiling breakers.
Whatever it is, it's proved to be powerful and palpable. And a little bit magical. HSFT has become it's own thing and has a different meaning for everyone. A company that was born from the legacy of a late father's mantra, Have Some Fun Today. You don't get much more soulful than that.
Membership Is NOT Required
It's not an exclusive VIP club or a "Members Only" kind-of-a-thing. Yes, we love seeing celebs donning our cool statement tees, hats and luxe totes but only because it spreads the message and shares our mindset. And the message is free. Have Some Fun Today. It's a shift in how we live, how we think and what possibilities we open up to, and you don't have to be famous to figure that out.

HAVE SOME FUNTODAY - You already know how our Have Some Fun Today Luxe Tote looks chic and fabulous on the arm or perched on your shoulder. Remember how we spotted Brooke Shields with one earlier this spring?
And Lucky you! This Friday, the luxe tote is 35% off through the weekend. Did you read that? It's on SALE this weekend!! (offer expire 6/26/17)
Let's recap. It's got raw leather handles, (like the ones you'll find on the high-end fashionista bag from Paris), brass grommets and hardware, and black vegan leather lettering, stitched onto the thickest textured canvas. It's roomy, it's versatile, and it's a showstopper, whether you're lounging at the pool or a resort.
The Humble Beginnings Of Something Fabulous
The Luxe Tote is an iconic piece for Have Some Fun Today. One of the first pieces designed by founder and CEO Stephanie Taormina three years ago, the tote solidified the feel of her then fledgling brand. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Stephanie tells the story of returning to New York City and to Parsons, to begin creating Have Some Fun Today. And how the luxe tote was born... "My first step was to go back to 7th Avenue. There’s a cool kiosk there, right across the street from where Parsons used to be. In that building you can get all kinds of information, if you want to do anything having to do with apparel," Stephanie explains. (Right: Brooke Shields was spotted with our HSFT luxe tote on her shoulder back in April while on vacation...)
A Tote Bag Is Born
"So I went there, and kind of sifted through pages and pages of information that I got. And I found a great handbag manufacturer and they helped me develop the first Luxe Tote, which was amazing," she says. "I found a cut-and-sew shop to help me do the pattern and make the first small round of production."
Still Having Some Fun
And the line keeps growing and getting more fabulous. "It still is very simplistic and very elegant and very bold. We're really focusing on sharing this message on a t-shirt, or a sweatshirt, a coffee mug or a tote bag," Stephanie says.
"We really want to appeal to a mindset, a mindset of someone who believes in the openness of life, not the drudgery of everyday life... This isn’t an about an age...it’s someone who wants to have a good life, and they are open to inspiration. And that’s what have some fun today is all about..." #hsft
