  •     I feel like we just lived an extra two years of madness crammed into the last 6 months - right? Well it has felt like that to me:)

        As I have been thinking about this months blog and all the topics fresh in my mind that I have been dealing with, I'm going to start with what my dad was thinking when he began saying "Have Some Fun Today". I know he was juggling a lot: a big family, lots of bills to pay, running a midsize company that he started from scratch with two manufacturing facilities and over 100 employees, several major health issues and his love of having a balance of work and play. Basically a full and complex life like many of us have. Somewhere out of that, this kind, outgoing guy that could sell ice to a Eskimo started to say "Have Some Fun Today." Now I get it more than ever.....

      And to be honest I have had my share of moments where I had to dig deep to find my sunshine. This is what I do for a living right? How can I feel so worn out emotionally and mentally that I can't be authentic in my job of sharing how to HSFT? It happens to the best of us. I have cried more in the past 6 months than I had in the past several years. Cried for the world, cried for those who have lost loved ones, cried for people who have been isolated and depressed, cried for the lack of compassion and leadership our world so desperately needs and when I was done crying I became grateful for my position and grateful to be a voice and a vessel for some happiness that others can feel and wear and share.

         Yes we have a lot to figure out and improve and Yes we aren't out of the woods yet, but these things are here and we either evolve and find ways to uplevel, fix some of these problems and enjoy life, or we don't.

         The past six months have awakened so many of us to the corruption of "the system". If we dwell in the media amongst the childishness of our politicians, and how this storm is whirling over us from so many angles, it is easy to fall prey to becoming depressed and anxious. I have felt this deeply and it has given me a new perspective. We all don't have to agree, but we should be able to respect our disagreements and still play in the sandbox together. That is how we progress as a nation.

        When all the racial riots were in full swing I received an email from a customer of my brand. It was in response to my email that Love is the Answer. While she was polite and well meaning, she wanted to let me know that while she didn't expect me to send out a racially apologetic marketing email addressing the issues at hand, she felt my Love is the Answer email was naive at best. 

        I welcomed the conversation and ansered her about my feelings regarding BLM from my heart (as I am a mother of 1 millenial and 1 Gen Z and we had many many conversations about it) so I was able to share my position with her that I have always had the utmost respect and have worked with and support Black artists, Black models , Black designers, Black photographers, Black customers and Black friends and truly believe that the most beautiful world is one where we respect all races equally. But what came out of my final comment in my conversation with her was that my purpose with my brand is to share something simple that lifts peoples spirits and reminds them whoever they are, whatever race, color, sex or political affiliation to enjoy your life - to Have Some Fun Today .

        She told me she didn't expect to hear a reponse to her email at all, especially from the founder, she thanked me and it felt good to  hear her, and for her to hear me and to give each other the mutual respect that everyone deserves. That is who we are. That is what this brand is about. That is my purpose. That is the brands purpose. We stand by that simplicity and honor the words : Have Some Fun Today.

        So for everyone of you who is reading this, don't forget to have a little fun today.... you never know what the future holds as we have clearly been shown.

    Stop The Holidaze

    Do you ever feel like the end of October and early November has you blazing towards the holidays at warp speed?

    I love this time of year, with beauty of the fall and the beginnings of cozying up to winter, but it always feels like we’re knee-deep into Christmas before we’ve emptied the Halloween candy bowl and tossed out pumpkins.

    Less Stress More FUN

    The holidays can create more stress than actual joy and FUN. And since we’re all about the “Have Some Fun Today” mindset, we’ve been thinking of ways to keep the HSFT in our holidays this year.

    We've created our HSFT checklist to help you do more than survive this Holiday Season. Here's to less stress and more ways to Have Some Fun this year!

    1. Check the Box

    We’ve always believed that HSFT is a mindset and a choice that we make each and every day. Let’s take back our power and own it this holiday. Just decide right now that you are going to Have Fun. No. Matter. What. It really does start with that.

    I find that there are always plenty of reasons for me to be stressed out and overwhelmed, but when I am mindful enough to choose to look for the FUN, it changes the course of everything else.

    2. Wear Your Positivity

    Start with something simple, like what you’re wearing. A great outfit that’s chic and comfortable can make you feel good and change your entire attitude. Don’t overthink it.

    We love a “uniform” of classic pieces that you don’t have to think about and that interchange with things in your closet. A sleek legging, a fantastic fitting jean, a black fitted skirt.      3. Simplify 

    I swear by this in my own daily routine and think it is a powerful way to keep stress free. I always start by writing it down.

    I like to create a blueprint or an action plan that keeps me on task and keeps it SIMPLE. When you start with simple, you’re one step ahead of the stress.

    Maybe you won’t do holiday cards this year or maybe you’re not giving all the neighbors homemade Christmas cookies, -and that’s okay! Set your intention by writing down not only what you will do, but also what you won’t do. It’s like giving yourself permission to not overdo it.

    Studies show that when you write something down, you are twice as likely to follow through or meet your goal…. So, stick to your plan.

    What overwhelmed you last year? Don’t give a repeat performance, make it different this year and sketch out a less-stressed holiday plan.

    4. Put YOU On Your List

    I am a big believer in rewarding myself or treating myself when I’ve had a particularly challenging day or a grueling task. There’s nothing like a relaxing bath for me where I just indulge in the ceremony of preparing a sacred space and I can just let go. That’s the ultimate HSFT.

    I draw the water, add some nourishing bath oils and light candles. I love our HSFT essential oil candle and some relaxing music to create that peaceful ambience. The smells, the hot water; it’s heavenly.

    Make time for you! It’s a must when we get so busy and overwhelmed. Creating moments like this for yourself is crucial for creating balance and gratitude.

    5. Give The gift of A Good Vibe

    HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - Define beauty. Ask 25 people to do the same and you'll get 25 different answers; none of which will likely be anything close to the one in Webster's Dictionary. That's the beauty of beautiful, it truly is in the eye of the beholder, and it's different for all of us. 

    Shine On You Crazy Diamond 

    At HSFT, we think the definition of beauty is being whatever expression of YOU that feels beautiful, no matter what that is. Regardless of how high or low your neckline, how tight or loose you choose to wear your clothes, --short, tall, bald, blonde, brunette, curvy or skinny, redhead or gorgeous grey; beauty isn't about what you're wearing or the shape of your form. It's about loving the beautiful body and the YOU that you're in and letting it shine. 

    Let's Hear It For The Brave And The Beautiful 

    Being bold enough to embrace and celebrate our bodies and beauty takes courage. It takes dissolving other peoples idea's of what we should do or how we should look. When we step into our own personal expression of our beauty, our "goddess" within, it transcends the physical and becomes an essence and an aura that you carry with you. It's that je ne sais quoi that every beautiful and confident woman oozes, whether she's in a baseball hat or a ballgown. And it's sexy as hell. 

    How To Teach Beautiful 

    Celebrate other woman around you that have the courage to be their own unique expression of beautiful, even if it's not the same as yours. Be in "beauty solidarity" with anyone who is brave and bold enough to step into their light and be who they are. That is beautiful.

    It's not going to look like the cover of the magazines or the pictures of Instagram. And isn't that exactly what we should be teaching our daughters?  That would be a revolution. Confident and bold, young woman who own their beauty and don't shame and judge others for owning theirs.  

    No Costume Required 

    Yesterday, many of us were knee-deep in a holiday that celebrates dressing up in costumes and masks as other people. On the day after Halloween, we thought it quite apropos to celebrate being who we are.  

    When we feel good about who we are, it shows. Serve that up however that speaks to you and don't judge another woman for how she choose to do it. Love one another, celebrate each other. That's the heart of HSFT. Inside and out, you're beautiful.

  • Hello, Hollywood.... We've Been Waiting For You

    HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - Looks like A-lister Kate Hudson is the latest celeb to catch the Have Some Fun Today vibe as she was spotted wearing our embroidered zip hoodie in NYC last week. We've been pretty stoked to see Have Some Fun Today showing up high-profile celebs like Brooke Shields, Hilary Duff, Olivia Wilde, and Reese WitherspoonBut we can't say we're surprised.

    Three years ago, HSFT started out with the goal of sharing a mindset, a vibe, and a philosophy on how to live life. The chic tees, totes, hats and other accessories are just the vehicle to share the message. 

    The message may seem simple, but it's a call to action. Hey, you. Yeah, you! Pay attention and look for something in your day that's fun! Go out and find a little fun or find a lot of fun. Look for it, cultivate it. But whatever you do, Have Some Fun Today. 

     

    It Was Just A Mission Statement 

    And so, when you get HSFT, you get it. For some people, Have Some Fun Today is a mission statement to grab the day by the collar, dammit, and have some FUN. For others, it's a reminder to pay attention to the details and not take it all too seriously. What we love about this "brand with soul" is seeing it resonate with people in all different ways and how they share that with us. 


    Our owner and designer Stephanie Taormina gets countless emails, notes, texts and pics of people sharing their HSFT experience. We've heard from people struggling with health issues to people taking that "bucket-list" trip of a lifetime. We've heard from college kids and preschoolers, to moms to grandmas. Everyone has their own take on HSFT and that's the beauty of it. 

     

    Have Some Fun Today, Baby

    Each note or card, email or text about how HSFT connects with our customers drives home the same point and something we've always known to be true. We're connected. And we all need a reminder to just slow down long enough to have some fun. 


    Whatever it is, it's proved to be powerful and palpable. And a little bit magical. HSFT has become it's own thing and has a different meaning for everyone. A company that was born from the legacy of a late father's mantra, Have Some Fun Today. You don't get much more soulful than that. 

     

    Membership Is NOT Required

    HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - It's no secret that exercise can be a game changer when it comes to our health and gets us in shape. But it's also key for keeping your "sexy" and your happiness.

    Let's Get It On 

    Exercising three times a week or more is thought to increase our mental health, as the body releases important hormones like androgens when we break a sweat. And that gives us sex drive. According to an article in the Mayo Clinic "Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed."

    Happy and more relaxed is great for our sex life, not to mention increasing our confidence when we feel good about our body.

    Be grateful for whatcha got and who ya got. Having an attitude of gratitude promotes positive energy in our lives and attracts more good things!

     

    HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - Spring is weeks away from turning to summer and the seasonal change brings about a natural introspection and time for reflection. We're moving into the warmer, even hot weather. The sun stays around a little longer, the nights are filled with summer skin and lazy beach hair. We may take that much needed vacation. And half of 2017 is in the books. What have got left for the remaining six month of this year? 

    A change of season is always an invitation for a shift within and a chance to take stock of all that we have. We always love to check-in and take a gratitude check up. Cause there's always something to be grateful for. 

    Let's Play The Gratitude Game

    Gratitude, by definition, is "the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness." To return kindness. Let that sit with you for a while. What it means is that gratitude is reciprocating and gratitude is a state of mind. Anyone can conjure up gratitude. Cultivating being grateful for what you have, not focusing on what you don't, is energetically and vibrationally powerful! Basically, it's life changing... 

    And yeah, there's even science behind it. Research says that creating gratitude and reflecting on what we are grateful for increases our well-being and happiness. Like, improves the quality of your life. Are you getting this

    Just Say Thank You 

    What do you have in your life that is good. It's always going to be way easier to see what you don't have, initially. But if you sit in stillness, grab a journal or even your keyboard, reflect on what is it that is purely good and positive in your life. Maybe you have to start with the basics. Like, okay a roof over my head is good. Check. But if you did a little deeper, chances are, you'll find more.

    We all are in this human experience, yoked together by some very simple core principles, despite the differences and diversities of all of us. Be grateful for these commonalities we share and what binds us together as human beings. It means none of us are going it alone in this life thing, because there is certainly enough shit in the world to divide us.

    Take A Shot Of Life

    Have Some Fun Today is more than just four little trite words encouraging you to do shots at the bar with your friends, although be great fun. We're talking about embracing the idea of getting some joy out of life, and seeing your life with a new perspective, with the chance of something unexpected around every corner.

    What does life look like if you're looking for FUN everyday? HSFT maybe means your taking a chance and taking the road less travelled because you're looking for the magic in that plain ol' day. And when you can start finding FUN in everyday, that will give you something to be grateful about. 

    Lead with your heart. Be grateful. Practice the HSFT mind set and there's no question the remaining half of 2017 will give you more to be grateful for.
