    HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - The first Saturday in June has got us thinking 'bout our Happy Place. Cool beach vibes and sunshine; there's something about the beginning of summer that makes our skin tingle with the possibility of feet in warm sand and salt water in our hair.

    This is when we're truly living what  HAVE SOME FUN TODAY is all about. Pretty hard not to see the awesome in every moment when you're staring at the ocean. So, how do you find your "Happy"?

    Not Just An Imaginary Friend 

    The Happy Place is not just a figment of the imagination or just a trendy way to post that your somewhere really cool on social media. It's an actual thing. Mind Body Green.com explored explored this concept in an article about the "Happy Place" and discovered it's a "...place you go to be fully present with yourself, and you can savor the experience."

    Fully present with ourselves? Savoring the experience? That sounds like a no-brainer. Free from the constraints and confines of everyday life, our Happy Place can give us a sense of permission to unwind and let go. Kind of reminds of our Brand Mantra, Have Some Fun Today.

  • 3 Foods for Fall to Keep You Glowing

    The Beauty of Fall  

    The season of fall upon us means shorter days, a nip of cool weather at night, and pumpkin spice everywhere you look! It also means a big change for our body. 

    At HAVE SOME FUN TODAY, we believe beauty starts on the inside. Clean, healthy eating gives us a clear mind and beautiful glow. As the seasons shift, so do we. Changing our diet and eating seasonally keeps us in rhythm with the earth's energy and all that's around us. So on these warm fall days, we're grabbing our HSFT printed tote and filling it with the autumn harvest and goodness from our local farmers markets. 

    Soups, Not Salad

    Summer salads and raw food are perfect for cooling summer heat, but in the fall, our body needs dense and warmer, cooked foods. Think soups and stews, winter squash, sweet potatoes, and yams. These foods are warming and very grounding for our body. Chinese Traditional Medicine says that autumn is the season of the metal element, the air becomes dry and there is less moisture. Hydrating with warm teas and water is key. We're never without our HSFT water bottle to stay hydrated through the day.  

    Gonna Kick it, Root down

    Roots and tubers hold the energy of food that comes from the earth. These are dense and warming and help us build our energy for the winter ahead. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, turnips, carrots, ginger, garlic and onions are perfect for this time of year. Eating these foods not only keep us grounded but also boost our immune system. We are in love with this Carrot Turmeric soup with ginger from Mind, Body, Green. We've also changed it up and used sweet potato in place of the carrot in this recipe and it's everything!

    Spice it up

    Infusing our foods with the flavors and spices of the season stimulate the body and disperse energy. Spices and pungent foods include those that warm like garlic, onions, chili peppers, mustard greens, turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. These flavors support our circulation and encourage digestion. 

    Taking just a little extra time to change up your diet for the season will give you an inner beauty that shows on the outside. You'll also feel amazing and everyday want to HAVE SOME FUN TODAY!
