HAVE SOME FUN TODAY - Thankfulness. We're pondering this today on the eve of Thanksgiving, as we're running to the grocery store, liquor store and setting the table for 30. It's a day to give thanks. And yet sometimes this holiday gets blurred by the turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie.

Gratitude Is A Verb
Gratitude, by definition, is "the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness." To return kindness. Let that sit with you for a while. Gratitude is reciprocating. It's a verb, as in, you "do gratitude". And anyone can conjure up gratitude. It's accessible to anyone who wants it, and oh yeah, it's free. Cultivating being grateful for what you have, not focusing on what you don't, can be a life changing practice as important as exercise and eating right! Basically, it's life changing...

There's even science behind it. Research says that creating gratitude and reflecting on what we are grateful for increases our well-being and happiness. Like, improves the quality of your life. Who doesn't need that? We think that's a no-brainer.
Just Say Thank You
What do you have in your life that is good? A lot more than you think. And of course, it's always going to be way easier to see what you don't have, initially. But if you sit in stillness and quiet for just a few moments, and grab a journal or even your keyboard, you 'll be amazed at what you can come up. There's a lot more positive in your life than you think. Start with the easy ones. Like, okay, a roof over my head is good. Check. That just gets the juices flowing.
Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Be Thankful And Have Some Fun
Have Some Fun Today is our mantra. It's more than just four little trite words encouraging you to do shots at the bar with your friends, although that can be great fun, too. But we're talking about embracing the idea of getting some joy out of life, and seeing your life with a new perspective, with the chance of something unexpected around every corner.
HSFT might mean taking a chance and taking the road less travelled 'cause you're looking for the magic in that plain ol' day. When you can start finding FUN in everyday, that will give you something to be grateful for. See how that works?

HAVE SOME FUN TODAY -The heart of our mission at HSFT is to live life to the fullest, soak up the beauty of any given moment and have some fun. Isn't it all too easy to get caught in the grind of life and forget to find a little FUN? What that really means to us is being mindful enough to live in the "now" and to find a way to be present throughout any given day and realize this day, and that moment, this is your life!
So in honor of our mission statement, we've found some other great ways to say "Have Some Fun Today" though the wisdom and the words of some great thinkers; the likes of poets, philosophers, and creators of the the world. So, no matter how you say it, grab your life by the horns and make it FUN dammit, it's the only one you get.
1) Surf's Up, Baby...

Basically HDT was saying don't miss a chance to catch a wave of possibility and opportunity around every corner. And that's how you find your forever.
2) Happy Hour is Not Just From 4-6 p.m.
“Happiness, not in another place but this place...not for another hour, but this hour.” - Walt Whitman
Walt was talking about recognizing that you can't find happy, or wait for happy, or go to happy. It's right where you are. The present. So go there.
3) Let's Be Friends
“Accept—then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously transform your whole life.” ~ Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now
There's no one better than Eckhart Tolle to wax poetic about living in the moment and practicing mindfulness to step in your power. There's a tangible shift that occurs when you step into the simplicity of just being in the moment. And that's exactly what HSFT is all about. Even just setting forth the intention of having some fun today means you've shifted into a consciousness of living for the day. Not yesterday or tomorrow. That's deep...
4) Turn On Your Heartlight...

Carlos not only riffs a mean guitar but he's clearly figured out the meaning to life. Joy, happiness, it's around us, everyday. And if you just sit for a moment, you'll find it. And that is the way to heal anything.
5) What It's All About

The former first-lady is known for some of her deep insight and wisdom and she clearly know that getting the most of out of life meant really living. Try new things, live without fear and move out of your comfort zone. Word, Elanor. Word.
6) Any Way You Slice It, It's HSFT

Kurt was telling us to be mindful and aware enough to know when your in a space where it's good, no matter how small. A hug, a handhold, a compliment from a stranger, a heartfelt message from a friend; big or small, life hands us moments each and every day that are worth holding on to. Be present. Smile. And find your HSFT.
