  • "There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them."

    - Sylvia Plath

I love a bath. I truly can't imagine living life without a bath tub. It is a staple of my daily rituals and one of the things I do to practice HSFT. It is so soothing to my body, mind and soul.

I'm immediately lulled by the luxury of the hot water and bubbles. It is instantly calming. I'm in good company. Couture designer Tom Ford is rumored to take up to 6 baths a day.

    Take Me To The Water

Hydrotherapy is the use of water to provide therapeutic effects and that is exactly what a bath is for me! The practice of bathing has been been around for centuries and both hot and cold water can be good for the body.

People have used baths to relax and relieve stress, as well as for cleanliness. The ancient Indians used elaborate practices for personal hygiene with three daily baths. And the Greeks established public baths and showers in gymnasiums for relaxation and hygiene.

It was the Romans who took it to a whole new level with their extensive public bath houses, different rooms with baths in varying temperatures of water, steam and other elements.

The Beauty Of A Water Habit

A bath is ritual. When I'm stressed or feel chilled, I'll head straight to a bath. I light candles, like the Have Some Fun Today gold candle with a warming scent and then I add the mini votives around for glow. I use soaking salts like Dr. Teal's Epsom salts and their lavender foaming bath. It just gives me a time to decompress, meditate and sort out what's in my head.

And what you add to your bath can be as beneficial as a vitamin or supplement. Epsom salts are a fantastic way to absorb magnesium and sulfate into the body, which helps lower blood pressure and detoxify the body.

Take A Tub & Get Happy

Did you know that a bath in warm water increases levels of serotonin, the chemical produced by our brains that helps give us that happy feeling? And the warm water also increases blood flow and helps to oxygenate our blood. Added bonus if your breathing in that steam into your lungs, which is even more relaxing and oxygenating.

No wonder it feels so amazing to soak in that warm water and clear my head. And why I feel so good when I get out.

A tub is the perfect place to find your FUN today and cultivate a practice of mindful happiness... And you'll smell amazing. So draw a bath, light some candles, add some bubbles and HSFT, loves...

    Peace, Love & FUN,
