Enjoying the ride so far in 2019! I am off to a good start with all the things I said I would be working on and that is huge!
It is hard to stay focused when you have a lot going on. No matter where you are on your journey, I understand the challenge of doing what you say you're gonna do.
So lets talk dirty.....and I'll tell you what I've been up to for the past month in all the areas of my to-do list!
Health: I am making strides with fitness and strength. Doing 30 minutes of cardio; up from my 15 minutes pre-surgery. This can be anything from doing an elyptical machine at the gym, to walking or a circuit that involves jumping rope and burpees.I am making a point of doing something every single day even if I have to make a little circuit in my house of stairs, sit -ups, squats, etc. The point is to do something everyday. Even with strength, I am taking a cue from everything I see on instagram where they are showing combined movements with weights and stretching. I do believe this is a way to tone and strengthen your body in ways machines and traditional exercise routines can't.
Nutrition: For me my nutrition is pretty good, so thats why I'm ready to ramp it up a little farther with reducing my carb intake and doing intermittent fasting. I've just started doing this a couple days ago and I'm psyched to see what the difference will make over a couple weeks time. I believe with fitness and nutrition you need to start slow and tweak your program every so often so that your body doesnt get too used to it. Its good to shock your system to see new results. I'm only eating low carb, high protein, highly nutritious veggies for the time being. I also love to drink probiotic teas to cleanse my system.
Beauty Routine: I am a self confirmed beauty junkie. I love masks, creams, oils and serums. My latest addiction is the Hanacure system. I use their lifting mask once a week and actually have so many people tell me how great my skin looks! On top of that I am loving another new product that you leave on through the night. It's a mask by a company out of CA called Youth to the People. I also started to do light therapy 3-4 times a week at 10 minute intervals with a LED Photon mask. I like the red light for rejuvination and collagen stimulation for my face and neck. Really loving the glow my skin is getting from those new additions to my routine.
Family : This one is always a work in progress. As you know I have two daughters in college. My oldest Allegra will be graduating from Penn State University this spring, so she will be the first one to "leave the nest". I am supporting and encouraging her job interview process at this time. The rest will follow; but the best gift you can give your children is ownership of their lives. The more you own your own life and make them accountable for their choices as young adults, the more they will own their lives. This summer we are working towards Allegra establishing herself in a city where she takes a job. While Gabi my younger daughter will be staying in Manhattan to do an industry internship while I prepare for my move to CA.
Relationships: Well, January has been an interesting month. I have been having a blast by reminding myself to stay in the now and enjoy what comes and not worry about whats not coming. I love meeting interesting people from all over the world. I am not one to shut a door just because someone is in another town, state or country. To me life is filled with amazing possibilities. There will be time in my future to see who comes, who leaves and who stays. I am flowing:)
So that's my February check in after starting on my personal 2019 to do list...! I hope you also have started your 2019 journey and made some changes. It's what you do today that changes your tomorrow.
Love & Light,
In the dawn of the new year, I'm all about finding my highest self and being open to all that the universe has to offer. I'm also all about a great moisturizer and a fabulous mascara!
I love beauty products. I'm a spirit junkie channeling my inner beauty junkie. I might be soul searching and spirit hiking to enlightenment but I also may be doing it in Sephora.
The Zen And The Beauty
The dichotomy of these two passions is not lost on me, but I make no apologizes about seeking beauty on the inside and out. As a little girl, I grew up with my mother running a hair salon out of our house. From a young age, I was surrounded by glossy beauty magazines and reading about makeup and beauty products. It really sparked a fascination in me and was probably even an impetus for my later painting career. Color, texture, design, it's all a huge part of who I am today.
So along with seeking my best self through meditative and reflective practices and being open to the universe, I'm also stoked about some new beauty products this new year that give me that "look as good as I feel" glow.
These are my new favorites for 2018 that I think will you give you that Zen/Bliss glow, too!
1) Face Roller
This little beauty was a gift and I'm loving it to help improve skin texture. It uses a process called microneedling as the roller has a bunch of tiny spikes on the end. While it sounds painful, it really doesn't hurt, but the point is to increase collagen production. I use the face roller a couple of times a week. After you roll on your face, apply your favorite skin serums for maximum absorption.
2) Micro Peel Wipe
I use these Powerglow Peel wipes a couple of times a week to keep my skin looking fresh and youthful and to exfoliate the top layer for a healthy glow. With glycolic and salicylic acid, it's a skin clarifier. It's like getting a mini facial.
3) Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C serum is the hot trend in skincare right now and for good reason. It stimulates new collagen, reduces lines and wrinkles and protects skin from harsh elements. I apply religiously every morning to fight wrinkles and detoxify my skin.
4) Face Shaver
I just started using these this past fall. It lightly shaves the small hairs on your face and neck to exfoliate and give a smooth surface for a glowing complexion. Products absorbs more quickly and skin is baby soft.
5) Lash and Brow Serum
Lashes and brows are a big trend in beauty and make-up right now and when they're done right, it gives an instant youthful appearance. I use VegaBrow on my brows and lash line several times a week to promote growth and fullness. It's also vegan and cruelty-free so that's a win/win.
6) Lash Extension Mascara
I love this product. Nothing opens up the eye and gives you a rested, youthful look like a beautiful lash. This Liquid Lash Extensions mascara from Thrive cosmetics is a mascara that really gives you a full and long lash line. While I loved the look of lash extensions, I stopped doing them because I just couldn’t afford the time commitment. Now I use this product and it's fabulous. Vegan, paraben and toxin-free, too!
7) Firming and Moisturizing Body Cream
This stuff is amazing. Charlotte Tilbury Super Model Body. I've already re-ordered this twice for fear of running out. It's light but packs a punch for moisturizing and firming the skin and gives it a beautiful glow. The smell is amazing and feels so great on my skin. It's quickly become one of my favorites. I might have to buy this in bulk.
Your Best Beautiful
Being your best self comes in all different expressions. For me, it's about looking and feeling good about myself and yes, I'm a sucker for a clever product with the promise of a great result. But it's all getting me to the same place, bliss, joy and FUN.
Have Some Fun Today and be beautiful doing it...!
Peace, Love, & Fun,
At HAVE SOME FUN TODAY, our simple philosophy and brand mantra means to capture each day with open eyes and an open heart. We try to see the beauty all around, find the FUN by being open to life and the possibility around us, every day. You can't do that if you don't feel your best. Something as simple as drinking water and keeping hydrated can ease tension, fatigue, muscle cramps, aid digestion, help kidneys detoxify the body, and sharpen our brain function.
Drink up, Beautiful
We all know that water is essential to our survival, we need it for our body's basic functions. But when we shortchange our body the water it needs, it directly affects how we feel and how we look. Studies vary on how much we should drink, but it's common knowledge most of us don't drink enough. Some experts suggest that we should drink at least half our weight in ounces. So if you weigh 140, you'd drink a minimum of 70 ounces of water daily.
Drinking water is the most powerful tool we have in our beauty arsenal. Hydrating the body feeds the skin and skin is our largest organ! Drinking enough water gives us improved texture and skin color and helps promote cell regeneration. When we don't drink enough, our skin will literally show it with dull, dry skin and more pronounced wrinkles.
I'll Drink to That
Studies have shown that even mild dehydration can alter mood, decrease memory and reduce brain function. Make it a habit to take your water with you. We are never without our HSFT water bottle, (part of our new gift line on the website!), which fits perfectly in the gym bag, purse or car drink holder. When we feel good, we do good, and share good. It's infectious. So grab your water bottle and get happy. Never underestimate the power of feeling your best. Cheers!
